Well, here we are... just weeks away from meeting our son! What in incredible journey this has been. It has been crazy, unexpected, hard, and oh so joyful. We have felt God drawing us in close, while He pieces together a story for our family more incredible than Jarrod and I could have ever imagined.

As many of you know, we have been fundraising like crazy over the past year. We have tried to find creative and fun ways to help us raise the funding needed to adopt, while also allowing you guys to join along with us on this journey. My mom came to me a few months ago and asked she could make a quilt for us to raffle off as a fundraiser. I immediately said yes because, as most of you know, my mother is incredibly talented and her quilts are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!

Once I gave my mom the go ahead, in true Dot Brewer fashion, she got straight to work on the project. She was inspired by some gorgeous Tula Pink fox fabric. It has been fun getting updates about the quilt over the past few months... fabric choices, pictures of her hand-cutting hundreds of little pieces, piecing them together one by one deciding where each triangle fits best.

And just like that, the fabrics began to take on a life of their own. Each triangle unique and beautiful but when sewn together, they compliment one another perfectly.

And just when you think it can't possibly become more amazing, the quilting begins. Each triangle given it's own distinctive design. Each triangle with it's own story. It's been pretty incredible watching it all come together. The amount of time and love put into the making of this quilt shows in every single detail.

This is by far my favorite quilt my mom has made. And not just because it was made with so much love, or because it benefits our adoption, but because it represents so much about our adoption story. At first, Adoption seemed completely overwhelming. There were so many impossible things that needed to come together to make adoption possible. We didn't have all the answers upfront, but we knew God was calling us on this journey. Little by little every piece came together. Paperwork, training, funding, a file on a beautiful and amazing little boy. We see and feel God's presence at every turn. He has given us our own beautiful and unique journey. One that we never expected and never want to forget. He went before us, had every detail handled, and believed in us. As this quilt came together, so did our story. It's taken a lot of hard work and love but it's worth every second.

We are raffling off this gorgeous 83x83 quilt appropriately named "Foxy". Each raffle entry is $5. Raffle drawing will take place November 5th at 6PM. Drawing will be videotaped live and announced on Instagram and Facebook.

To my mom: Thank you so much for using your talent to bless our family in this way. You have been so supportive of this adoption journey from day one. It is going to be an incredible sight when all 9 of your grandchildren are laying in the floor at GG's watching Peter Pan after a delicious pancake supper. Thank you for fighting alongside us to bring Fox home.

Adoption Auction for Fox

Mollie GlasgowComment

Tomorrow morning, July 18th, we will launch our next fundraiser. We will be hosting an online auction on our @adoptinglittleglo account on Instagram! This fundraiser is very special because so many people poured their time, talent, and hearts into making this auction a reality. We will have 100+ items available to bid on. This auction will last through July 24th at 9pm! Individuals will be contacted for payment within 24 hours after the auction ends. I wanted to give a shoutout to Jenny Nicholson who took pictures of all the items in the auction! She did an amazing job!! Here's a little sneak peek!

Several of you have asked for an update on where we are in the adoption process. We are so excited to report that on July 29th, my 30th birthday, we will finally be able to send our dossier to China!!!!! This is a HUGE step towards bringing Fox home. We are very hopeful that if all the paperwork goes through quickly, we will be able to travel in the FALL!! November is my guess but we won't really know until a few weeks out. We are still $18,000 away from our funding goal.

In the meantime, Fox is doing amazingly! He continues to grow and flourish following his 2nd open heart surgery that took place in April. He is happy and is so very loved in his foster home. Please begin praying for him as God prepares his little heart to leave the only home he has ever known to join our family. Pray for his Ayi who loves him as if he were her own. We continue to be amazed that we get to be his forever family. He is so brave and beautiful.

Our little FOX!

IMG_5892.JPG

As most of you already know... we have been blessed to call this perfect little boy ours. This is our son! And we are a little (ok A LOT) obsessed with him!! That moment when our journeys collided together awakened parts of my heart that I never knew existed. Let me just say that I can see God's hand through every bit of this and he is writing an epic story. I am holding on tight with my eyes wide open because I don't want to miss a moment of this ride!!

We have had a lot of inquires about why we chose the name Fox. I wanted to take a minute and share why his name is special to us...

When we received the file from the agency on our little buddy, we eagerly read through and soaked in every word. He has a very serious and complicated heart condition and the majority of his file was medical information. I'll be honest it was pretty overwhelming and intimidating. I found my eyes searching for the good stuff. I wanted to know who this little fighter was and not let the medical stuff cast a shadow on his worth. AND THERE IS WAS... at the very bottom in a small paragraph they began to describe who this little guy is as a PERSON. I saw these words and they were immediately written in my heart.

What an amazing little human. Here I am reading about this little buddy who has fought hard to live. He has beaten the odds time and time again. Yet here they are describing him as "quiet and lovely". What an amazing little fella. What character of strength and grace!

So we felt like Fox fit him quite nicely. He is oh so lovely and we are oh so honored to be his parents.

BIG NEWS!!!!

Mollie GlasgowComment

We are so overjoyed to introduce you guys to our SON! That's right! We officially have a SON!

This is Fox. Isn't he amazing and perfect!?! He was brought into our lives through a crazy series of events. From the first time I saw his face and heard his story I felt God speaking to me that this child is SO WORTHY of a family. This little guy has fought through so much in his short lifetime and it is time for a family to fight just as hard for him. So we decided to do just that! We were able to locate his file (which is sometimes harder than it sounds), we transferred to the China program, and we started praying like crazy. And today we received the news that we have been approved! It was confirmed on paper what we already knew in our hearts! That WE are HIS and HE is OURS!

So here are some facts about Fox...

He is 2 1/2 years old. He has very serious heart defect and has already been through one open heart surgery. We do know that he will be having another open heart surgery in the next few weeks and we would love for you to join with us in covering our son in prayer. We also know that he is with an amazing orphanage in China, where he is well loved and taken care of.

So what does this mean as far as a timeline?

We will basically remain on the same timeline as before. We will be eligible to submit our dossier in July (when I turn 30) and from what we understand travel takes place around 6 months (on average) after the dossier is submitted.

What changes now that we are with the China program?

Our travel time will increase. We will be in country for around 2 weeks and return with our son being a legally ours and officially a U.S. citizen.

The cost also increases a good bit. The average cost of adopting a child from China is between $35,000-40,000. This is a dramatic cost difference from Hong Kong but we feel certain that God has a plan and He has already made a way. With that being said, we have several fundraisers coming up in the next few months. I will be using this blog and social media to promote each opportunity to help us reach our financial goal! We have been blown away by the support we have received thus far! If you are reading this and wondering the easiest way to give just click the DONATION BUTTON on the right side of the blog!

This is by far the most exciting blog post I've ever written. We feel so honored and blessed that God would chose us to be the parents to such an incredible and WORTHY child. I want to once again thank you for the incredible amount of support and love we have received. Fox is so blessed to be loved and embraced by so many! I cannot wait to bring him home to such a wonderful community of people.

T-shirt Fundraiser

You guys, we are so excited to launch our first fundraiser for the adoption! So far we have raised $6,500 just out of people giving! We are completely blown away by that number! What a blessing to have so many people support us and join in this journey with our family.

We have had a lot of questions about where we are currently in the adoption process so I wanted to give a quick update. We are currently still in the process of completing our home study. This process can be quite lengthy and time consuming. We are hopeful that the home study will be wrapping up by the end of the month. Although he have not been matched with a specific child at this time, that could happen any day. Regardless of not seeing the face of our child, knowing their gender or age, or even their origin story, our hearts are filled with an overwhelming amount of love for our child. God is preparing our hearts and I pray that he is also preparing the hearts of our community for our little love to join us soon.

These shirts are not only an opportunity to financially support our adoption but also to share our families story. Here's a little bit about their meaning...

No Limits

Throughout our journey as a family, God has shown us the beauty in trusting him and living with "No Limits". Living without limits has challenged our faith and understanding of how incredibly small we are and how GREAT and PERFECT God's plan for our life can be. Our adoption story is flooded with the message of God pushing us out of our comfort zone. He is calling us to live our life with NO LIMITS. Won't you join us!

Shine Bright

This shirt represents the power of advocating. What a powerful thing to be the VOICE for an orphan. To stand up and say you are worthy and loved and God has a plan to RESCUE you. By purchasing this you are given an opportunity to not only support our adoption but be the voice for so many orphans waiting to be rescued.

There are multiple shirt styles and color options available. Shine Bright is also available in kids sizes! Shop away and help us bring home little glo!

Dreams for 2016

Mollie GlasgowComment

With the New Year approaching we are definitely doing a lot of dreaming at the Glasgow house! We are currently in the midst of our home study and with each task completed we are that much closer to bringing home our Little Glo. There is so much unknown ahead for us but as our hearts continue to grow in love for our child, we long more and more to have them home with us. We look on to 2016 excited and hopeful that this might just be the year our family is complete.

We want to thank everyone for the love and support our family has received. The prayers, encouraging words, and financial contributions have been completely humbling. So far we have raised enough money to cover our next agency payment that is due at the time our home study is complete. We have several fundraisers to come in the next few months as well, so stay tuned!

Wishing you all many blessings in the new year!

A Lot To Be Thankful For

Mollie GlasgowComment

You guys, we are incredibly overwhelmed with the amount of love and support we have received since sharing our calling to adopt. Your kind words, prayers, excitement, and financial contributions have been humbling. The past two weeks have been quite an emotional rollercoaster for us. I have been a bit conflicted on how much to share with everyone but because we have asked you to join us on this journey, I feel it is only right to be raw and honest about all this journey entails.

We turned in our application with Lifeline on, Monday, November 9th. By total coincidence that day happened to be National Adoption Day! Being "newbies" to this process we didn't anticipate to have our application accepted for a few weeks. On Friday, November 13th, we received an email that our application was accepted and they were ready to get started. They emailed over our adoption manual (149 pages) and starter kit. We spent the weekend reading over and taking in all the information. We prepared questions and filled out 50 plus pages of paperwork.

On Monday, November 16th, we had a scheduled phone call with our service coordinator for Hong Kong and were so excited to find more information about next steps. Our conversation went about as expected, mostly discussing paperwork and the next steps towards starting our home study. As our conversation was coming to an end, our coordinator informed us that she received a file on a child that she would like for our family to read over and consider. Needless to say we were in complete shock. We had expectations that receiving a file for consideration would be 6 plus months down the road, if not longer.

The file was emailed over and we had the honor of being introduced to an amazing and perfect little human in need of a forever family to love them. From there, all the feels set in. After reviewing the file, sending it to the International Adoption Clinic for review, and lots of time in prayer, we humbly asked Hong Kong for consideration to be this child's parents. Our hearts were flooded with love for this sweet child and we began praying for them, their foster family, and their forever family.

Yesterday we heard back from our Hong Kong coordinator that another family was chosen for this child that is further along in the process. Immediately my heart sank. I want to say that my immediate reaction was surrendering everything to God and being at peace but that's not true. I was sad for us. It would have been an honor and privilege to parent this child. But as my emotions settled, I felt God reminding me that my prayers for this child have been answered. God's perfect plan was in motion and this child will soon be united with their forever family. What a VICTORY! This child is loved and their mommy and daddy are coming for them! I find peace in knowing that all those dreams that I had for this child will still come true. I am not the only mommy in the world capable of giving a child an abundance of love. I am honored to have been introduced to this beautiful child and to see a glimpse into all that God has in store for our family.

Our adoption story is only just beginning. We know that God's plan for our family is better than we are capable of imagining. In these last two weeks, we have learned that faith is not just about our willingness to say YES to God but also to accept the NO's and trusting that God is in control.

Please join our family in praying for this sweet child. Please pray for their parents as they anxiously await to bring their child home.

We are forever grateful for your continued support and prayers.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING,

The Glasgow's

Our Big Announcement!

Mollie GlasgowComment

We are beyond excited to share with you that our family is adopting a child from Hong Kong! As many of you know, adoption has always been something our family has been drawn to. After the birth of our second daughter, Wren, who was born with Down Syndrome, we felt God specifically calling us to adopt a child with special needs. In many other countries, children who are classified as “special needs” are often abandoned, neglected, and even left to die, simply for having what are considered to be less-than-ideal health conditions.

After careful consideration we chose Hong Kong due to their specific need for special needs adoptions. We will be working with Lifeline Agency to complete our adoption. At this time we have not been matched with a child. We are open to adopting a child, boy or girl, 4 years or younger with Down Syndrome and other possible health issues. The average time frame of adopting a child from Hong Kong is eighteen months from start to finish. Matching with a child can take place at any point during the adoption process.

We want to invite you to join along with us in this journey. We know that we cannot do it alone.

First and foremost we need your prayers. This is a long and emotional process and your support would mean the world to us! Second, we need you to tell our story. As Christians we are commanded to take care of orphans (James 1:27). We feel very strongly that God can use our story not only to bring home our child, but to possibly lead others to assist orphans in some capacity. And Third, we need your help financially. The estimated cost of adopting a child from Hong Kong is around $20,000. As a young family, we do not have an extra $20,000 laying around. We also know that long term caring for a child with special needs and medical issues can be quite costly. All that being said, we know that $20,000 is achievable if we all come together. Please know that any amount you are able to give helps. We would even like to invite you to give us your spare coins laying around because it all adds up! Simply click the "Donate" button to the right.

We also have several fundraisers planned for the next year: selling t-shirts, online auctions, garage sales, benefit concert, etc. If you are unable to give financially but would be willing to give your time to assist with fundraising, that would be amazing as well!

It is very important to us that you stay connected to our journey. We will keep this site updated regularly. It is our intention to not only keep you informed on our adoption, but to also help you feel connected and bonded with our child. This child will not only be joining our family, but our community as well. We have been so blessed to be surrounded with love and encouragement throughout our lives and our children’s lives. We look forward to introducing our newest “little Glo” to the beauty of God’s love and the love of a family and community.
